Set in 1959 Paris, the film follows Jean-Luc Godard as he decides he is finally ready to make his first feature and borrows money from friendly producer Georges de Beauregard for a crime story inspired by a newspaper report. His friend Jean-Paul Belmondo will play a fleeing crook, while rising American star Jean Seberg, newly arrived in France, will play his unreliable girlfriend. The film captures the creative chaos and youthful energy behind one of the most influential works of the French New Wave.
