A small fishing village in West Cornwall is in decline when the fishing boat Rose of Nevada, lost at sea years earlier with its crew, unexpectedly returns. The boat's owner sends it back out with a new crew, including an experienced seaman and two young men, Nick and Liam. After a successful trip, they return to find themselves 30 years in the past, mistaken by the locals for the ship's former crew, Alan and Luke.
