Katherine Newbury is a pioneering, legendary late-night talk-show host. After being accused of being a woman who hates women, she makes a token diversity hire: Molly, the first woman in Katherine’s all-male writers’ room. But the move may be too little, too late, as Katherine also faces falling ratings and a network eager to replace her. Determined to prove she belongs, Molly tries to help revitalize Katherine’s show and career, while pushing for bigger change along the way.
