In Joseon in 1623, after the overthrow of King Gwanghae, the country falls into chaos. Years later, soldiers of the Qing Empire seize peasants on foreign soil and force them into slavery, while their leader seeks a worthy opponent for a duel with swords. At the same time, a simple young woman tries to find a cure for her father as he begins to go blind.
