In 1890, during the U.S. census, chaos erupts when a man named Strindler arrives in an Arizona town and requests money in exchange for providing the names of dead Mexican laborers. As he moves from saloons to ranches, his strange scheme draws suspicion and pulls him into a web of conflict, rumor, and dangerous deals.
